Facebook Lite review
Facebook Lite allows you to stay in touch with your Facebook friends even when you are in bad Internet conditions. The application was developed and published by Facebook for Android and Apple devices. Like a common Facebook app, the Lite version is free and available for installing on Google Play and Apple Store.
Facebook Lite looks almost the same as Facebook. Seriously! We are sure that to distinguish these applications using the design only will be very hard. The main page contains the news and latest posts from your friends, and on the top of the window are Fb Stories. Each post has buttons for liking, commenting on, and sharing.
Also, there is a navigational bar that allows users to switch between the Fb menu tabs. It can be placed on the top or on the bottom based on which platform you use. Note, that Facebook Lite does not have a Dark mode, so there is white color on the background.
Key Functions 4/5
The main aim of Facebook Lite is to provide users with a bad Internet connection to all Facebook features. Therefore, you can enjoy all the classic Fb options and functionalities, like:
- Browsing the News Feed;
- See status updates;
- View friends photos;
- Receive notifications;
- Comment and react to friends posts;
- Find local events, businesses, and so on.
The main difference between Lite and the common Facebook app is to optimize the application for slower or intermitted Internet connection. As such, the Lite version offers fewer services and excludes the vast majority of third-party apps. The application requires less bandwidth, has a smaller size, and uses fewer system resources, consumes less memory and data. Also, the elements on the page are a little bit bigger. It is made to allow users with a small screen to notice them faster.
Facebook Lite copies the UI of a regular Facebook application. Therefore, it is intuitively understandable and easy in use. As we mentioned above, there are some improvements and small changes in the interface, like oversized buttons or links.
Some people can say that it is an old-fashion approach, but we think that an interface should work on usability. It means that the first place occupies the answer to the question: “How we can design the application, so users can use it faster and better?” And only then decide on is it beautiful or not.
Cross-Platform Use 4/5
Facebook Lite is an application designed for mobile platforms only. Therefore, you can not download it on the PC. The app is completely free for installing and using, no additional payments are required. Users can install Facebook Lite on iOS or Android devices.
